OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Prepare 0.5 mM sodium hydroxide solution in 90:10 IPA/water from powder or pellets (used in making calibration solution 0.5 mM sodium formate solution in 90:10 2-propanol/water)

PROCEDURE

  1. Dissolve 200 mg of NaOH pellets in 1 L water and label "5 mM NaOH in water".
  2. Transfer 10 mL of the 5 mM NaOH solution to a 100-mL volumetric flask.
  3. Fill to the mark with 2-propanol (IPA).
  4. Label the flask "0.5 mM sodium hydroxide solution in 90:10 IPA/water".
