"Turbo controller fault" on ACQUITY SQD - WKB77316

SYMPTOMS

• SQD vents and gives the error "Turbo controller fault" in the instrument console
• The instrument pumps down but fails to reach 100% turbo speed or maintain turbo speed

ENVIRONMENT

• SQ Detector
• Xevo TQD

CAUSE

No oil in rotary pump

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Fill the rotary pump with fresh oil.
2. Pump instrument via the tune page.
3. Ensure that turbo speed reaches 100%.

The error message "Turbo controller fault" does not necessarily indicate a fault with the turbo controller or turbo pump; it is simply a message from the controller reporting that a reading (e.g., turbo speed, turbo temperature, power supply voltage) is outside of a specified range. The most common problem resulting in this message is a turbo speed that is out of specification due to insufficient backing to the turbo pump.
