NanoLockSpray xyz adjuster stage micrometer screw does not work - WKB74243

Article number: 74243

SYMPTOMS

  • The micrometer screw turns but the translation stage (x, y, or z) does not move
  • The stage can be moved by hand, but the internal spring returns it back to the extreme end position

ENVIRONMENT

  • NanoLockSpray source enclosure
  • SYNAPT G2 QTof

CAUSE

The lead screw has broken free; spindle and adjuster knob spin without turning the inner spindle.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Order and replace part 8932374-S (TRANSLATION STAGE M-15.10). This is common part between Mark I and Mark II NanoLockSpray sources. Each of the 3 x-y-z stages share this subassembly.

FYI: If you decide to clean the lead screw nut and then glue/bond it instead of replacing it with a new assembly: Use the 13mm setting on the micrometer screw to have the holes on the other side aligned for connecting the next stage.
