Cannot turn off the collision energy - WKB684

Article number: 684

SYMPTOMS

  • The collision energy stays high even when a low collision energy is set on the tune page
  • Fragment ions are observed even at low collision energies, and there is no source leak
  • Parent ions are no longer observed
  • This high collision energy is also observed when running from the sample list

ENVIRONMENT

  • QTof Premier
  • Synapt HDMS
  • SYNAPT G2
  • SYNAPT G2-S
  • SYNAPT G2-Si
  • Xevo QTof
  • Xevo G2
  • Xevo G2-S
  • Xevo G2-XS

CAUSE

Corrupted nonstorage files

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Exit MassLynx.
  2. Browse to the C:\MassLynx\Instrument_Folder—for example, Fastnet (Xevos), QTof P (Q-Tof Premier), or Bluewater (Synapts)
  3. Sort by file type and delete all of the exp and ipr files. There should be about five of them depending on the instrument. Example:
    • autotune.exp
    • calibration.exp
    • nonstorageexp.exp
    • tuneexp.exp
    • tuneprm.ipr
  4. Open MassLynx and you should find that these files have been re-created and the collision energy is at the set point.
