Latched source readbacks on the AutoSpec - WKB66974

SYMPTOMS

• Some of the Source tab readbacks do not respond when the instrument is put in Operate, some do not turn on at all.

ENVIRONMENT

• AutoSpec Premier (P)
• AutoSpec Ultima (M)

CAUSE

The source unit (upper and/or lower source control micro controller) is frozen/latched.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Switch Ion Gauge off for 15 seconds and then on again and retest. If this does not work:
2. See if the problem occurs at a lower source voltage (if so, the problem is HT discharge within source).
3. Exit MassLynx.
4. Do a full bench reboot.
5. Restart MassLynx after the EPC has booted up correctly.
6. Verify that the fuses on both PCBs are correct and the the fuse holder contacts are tight—after taking appropriate safety precautions (remove power to source control and ensure Neon is extinguished).
