Can a UPLC be run when a QDa fitted with a divert valve is in standby mode? - WKB66022
Article number: 66022
ENVIRONMENT
- ACQUITY QDa Mass Detector
- ACQUITY UPLC
ANSWER
This is generally not recommended because of the risk of damage to the QDa, but it is possible. The QDa sends a stop flow signal to the BSM (or QSM) when it is switched into standby mode, and the QDa divert valve (if fitted) is switched to waste. If the pump module is reset, the flow from it can be restarted while the QDa is still in standby mode.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Caution: It is critical that mobile phase does not enter the QDa when it is in standby mode. LC flow into the QDa when it is in standby mode can cause irreparable damage to the QDa. The divert valve must be set to the waste position. If there is no divert valve, the QDa probe must be disconnected from the QDa source.
