Low TOF resolution and/or sensitivity with Xevo G2-XS - WKB64379

SYMPTOMS

  • Low TOF resolution
  • Low TOF sensitivity 
  • Argon gas is on and the collision cell pressure correct

ENVIRONMENT

  • Xevo G2-XS QTof
  • MassLynx

CAUSE

The target registry/tuning reverted back to MassLynx software defaults. This can be identified by checking the main TOF tuning slider values, such as Pusher offset and Reflectron-grid. This usually happens when users create a new project with the New Project Wizard.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Restore the last known good settings (from PM backup.reg) using the target registry editor, or type in for each mode the full tuning set as seen in the Experiment header of the older, good historical data.
  2. Save to the PC registry on the Tune page and export to the EPC.
  3. Run detector setup and calibration after setting up Veff.
  4. Create future projects on the basis of existing projects.

Ensure that these are real values optimized for the instrument, not just default values. Do the same for the reflectron grid on System 2.
