How to recover instrument after unintentional vent of Xevo Tof - WKB51412

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Pump instrument down after an unintentional vent. 

ENVIRONMENT

• Xevo QTof
• Xevo Tof
• SYNAPT G2

PROCEDURE

1. Turn off the electronics switch (Xevo: bottom switch on the back DOWN).
2. Unplug the instrument from the main power supply (for Xevo). For SYNAPT, turn off the Vacuum switch.
3. Wait five minutes.
4. Reconnect to main power or turn on the Vacuum switch.
5. Turn on the Electronics switch.
6. Wait (5+ minutes) for the EPC to boot.
7. Open the software and pump down the instrument.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A crash vent can leave the vacuum system in an unrecoverable state. Power must be removed from the instrument because turning off the electronics does not remove power from the vacuum system.
