How to reset after a nitrogen gas failure on a Xevo MS - WKB5116
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
After nitrogen gas pressure into the mass spectrometer drops below 100 psi, the nitrogen supply stops or the supply tank or dewar is replaced, you must reestablish the pressure and reset the error message.
ENVIRONMENT
- Xevo TQD
- ACQUITY TQD
- Xevo TQ-S micro
- SQ Detector 2
- Xevo TQ-S

PROCEDURE
Ensure that nitrogen gas is being supplied at 100 psi to the back of the instrument before resetting the error message.
For Quadrupole Instruments:
- Go to the MS tune page.
- Click on the Gas drop-down menu.
- Select Reset Nitrogen Gas Failure.
The error message should now be gone, and operation can commence.
For Time-of-Flight Instruments:
The error should be reset when the instrument is put into operate. At the bottom of the tune page you should see a message "Nitrogen Failure: Place instrument in Operate to reset".
Note: You may also need to purge the Fluidics from the Fluidics tab on the tune page.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The source pressure test may need to be run after the Nitrogen Gas Fail is reset (open and close the source door).
