No sample peaks in chromatogram with ACQUITY SQD - WKB50547

SYMPTOMS

• No peaks appear in chromatogram
• Infusion of setup solution shows very low signal, regardless of tuning parameters
• ESI capillary sticks more than 5 mm out of the probe tip
• Left/right adjustment of probe does not resolve the issue

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY SQD
• ACQUITY TQD

CAUSE

The ESI capillary tip extends too far out of the probe tip.

ESI spray is below the sample cone opening.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Rebuild the ESI probe, ensuring that the steel capillary ends up only 1-2 mm out of the end of the probe tip.
