How to improve high mass transmission on SYNAPT G2-Si MALDI using the quad profile - WKB4952
Article number: 4952
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Adjust the manual setting of the quad profile to bias high mass transmission and remove matrix noise.
ENVIRONMENT
- MALDI
- SYNAPT G2-Si
PROCEDURE
- Click the Setup drop-down in the tune page.
- Open the Quad Profile menu.
- Select Manual Profile and use the following:
- 2000 4 1
- 7000 90 5
- 7000
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Note: Observing ions at 5000 m/z is routine for an 8k quad, and up to 16,000 m/z is possible with focused tuning (the high mass example data from the service note shows the Myoglobin peak).
For a 32k quad, there is little change in sensitivity over the mass scale, but you have increased selectivity.
For additional information on optimizing MALDI experiments, see MALDI QC SST.
Service Note: APPS: Protein work in MALDI Mode on the SYNAPT G2, SYNAPT G2-S, and SYNAPT G2-Si
