No Internal Calibration Beam on QDa - WKB3597

SYMPTOMS

• No Internal calibration Beam in either Ion Mode
• ESI signal is present when infusing through capillary
• Approximately 800V is seen in the capillary voltage, read back on the tune page during the calibration routine (after the internal calibration heater temperature has stabilized)
• No signal with in internal calibrant
• Occasional weak signal in ESI mode, positive and negative modes.
• Read backs appear correct
• The HV contact strip inside the source enclosure incorrectly makes contact with the calibration pin per Article "No Internal Calibration Beam on QDa - WKB5222"

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY QDa Mass Detector

CAUSE

Contact strip inside Source Enclosure is not making contact with Internal cal pin

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace ESI Source Enclosure (700012634)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Part number 700009612 (ESI ENCLOSURE ASSY) has been discontinued and replaced with part number 700012634 (ESI COATED ENCLOSURE ASSY).  

You can often fix this by pulling down (un-bending) the contact strip inside source enclosure. See KB article 5222 -  No Internal Calibration Beam on QDa for more details. Ensure the QDa has been placed in standby before attempting any rework action.
