OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Safely shut down the LCMS system in preparation for a planned power outage.

PROCEDURE

  1. Turn off LC flow into the source.
  2. Put the MS into Standby mode.
  3. Turn off all gas flows.
  4. Vent the instrument (from the Tune Page / Vacuum pull-down menu, choose 'Vent'). In Diagnostics tab monitor the Turbos speed and await until those drops to about 2%.
  5. Once the system has vented, close MassLynx.
  6. Power-off the MS.
  7. Unplug the main power cable to the MS.
  8. Power-off the LC modules using power switch on the front of each module.
  9. Shut down the PC.
