PROCEDURE
- Put the system in Standby mode.
- Ensure that the trapping gas is OFF.
- Close the primary valve of the cylinder. Primary valve is the valve on the cylinder.
- Remove the regulator from the cylinder.
- Do not touch the secondary valve (large black pressure regulating valve).
- Move the regulator to a place where it will not be touched.
- Prepare a new cylinder, connect the regulator to prevent leakage, tighten the nut until the nut is finger-tight, and then further tighten it with a wrench.
- If you attach it cross-threaded, it will be difficult to finger-tighten.
- Open the regulator on the new bottle.
- Open partially the 1/8-inch Swagelok collision gas connection at the back of your MS and let it purge for one minute to remove any air from the line.
- Tighten the 1/8-inch Swagelok connection.
- Switch the instrument back into Operate mode.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
*Checking for leaks
1. After replacing the cylinder, put the instrument into Standby mode and turn off both API gas and Collision gas.
2. Close the primary valve of the cylinder.
3. Check the primary pressure of the cylinder, and then check it again after half a day or more has passed.
Check the primary pressure. If the pressure is decreasing, there is a leak somewhere and the part need to be replaced.
