Article number: 263563

SYMPTOMS

  • Power outage occurred in the lab
  • SQ Detector 2 was found to be vented
  • Turbo controller fault occurs when trying to pump down

ENVIRONMENT

  • SQ Detector 2

CAUSE

Internal communication issue on the SQD2

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Close MassLynx.
  2. Power-on the SQD2 and wait about one minute.
  3. Power-on the SQD2 and wait (about two minutes) for the instrument to initialize.
  4. Open MassLynx.
  5. Open the MS Tune file.
  6. From the menus, go to Vacuum > Pump.
  7. Monitor the vacuum system. Verify that the speed reaches and is maintained at 100%.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If the turbo pump does not spin up, the issue is likely a failed turbo pump controller. If the turbo pump spins up to full speed but the error returns shortly thereafter, the issue may be that the controller is not being cooled properly. Either case requires on-site service.
