OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Switch from MALDI to ESI mode.

ENVIRONMENT

• MALDI SYNAPT G2-Si

PROCEDURE

1. First put the instrument into Standby and vent. Wait 15 to 30 minutes for the vacuum to reach atmosphere.
2. Disconnect the source ID cable(s) from the instrument panel.
3. Release the inlet clamps as shown below.
   
   
4. The Inlet should slide back away from the source. Lower it via the key pad on the right-hand side.
5. Remove the two MALDI plates:
   
6. Confirm that the O-rings are seated in the PEEK block, and fit the ESI ion block.
7. Fit the ESI source enclosure and set the instrument to pump down. This may take several hours.
