OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Reboot a SYNAPT G2-S/Si.

PROCEDURE

  1. Locate the silver button that controls the vacuum state in the lower groove of the rear panel of the mass spectrometer, and toggle it from auto position to override position. You must lift it slightly when doing so.
  2. Shut down the MassLynx workstation and close other software on the computer.
  3. Locate the four power switches in the lower area of the rear panel of the mass spectrometer, turn all the switches off (except the "vacuum" switch) from top to bottom. Do not turn off the "vacuum" switch that is protected by a transparent plastic cover.
  4. Shut down all the LC modules. Shut down the computer.
  5. Wait five minutes.
  6. Turn on the computer and log on to the Windows desktop. Do not yet open the MassLynx workstation.
  7. Power-on all the LC modules.
  8. Turn on all the power switches (from bottom to top) on the rear panel of the mass spectrometer that you just turned off.
  9. Wait three minutes.
  10. Open the MassLynx workstation on the computer and wait for it to start up. After the startup process is completed, "Not Scanning" should appear in the lower-right corner of the status bar of the MassLynx main window.
  11. Toggle the silver button that controls the vacuum state to auto position.
