Unable to turn on API gas on the mass detector - WKB204312

SYMPTOMS

• Unable to turn on API gas on the mass detector
• "Instrument Present" status in MassLynx

ENVIRONMENT

• 3100 Mass Detector
• Xevo TQ-S micro
• MassLynx

CAUSE

The mass detector lost communication with the PC.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Reboot the MS:

1. Close MassLynx software.
2. Reboot the PC.
3. Push the EPC reset button on the 3100 Mass Detector.
4. Wait for the Operate LED to go from RED to OFF.
5. Open MassLynx.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The reset button for the Xevo TQ-S micro is in the aperture hole to the right of the power button as shown below. Insert a short (7.5 cm) length of PEEK tubing, paper clip, or similar object into the reset button aperture to actuate the reset button to reboot the detector's internal EPC.
