Vion acquisition stops with various error messages; unable to acquire new data - WKB17261

SYMPTOMS

• During an analysis, the system goes into an error state and pauses the run; no new injections are performed; system needs a reboot before run can resume
• Possible error messages:
  • Desolvation heater disconnected
  • Source temperature settling
  • Desolvation temperature settling
  • Baffle Fluidics error
• Sometimes it takes more than 20 minutes into an analysis before an error appears

ENVIRONMENT

• Vion IMS QTof
• UNIFI 1.8

CAUSE

The Instrument tab is open during the analysis. This can cause conflict with the settings in the analysis method.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Close at least the manual optimization (tune page); preferably, close the entire Instrument tab before starting a sample list in the analysis. 
2. Never click the Instrument tab during an analysis.
3. Do not open Quartz while running an analysis.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Customers must be trained never to open the Instrument tab when an analysis is running, and also to close it before they start an analysis.
