Low lockspray sensitivity on Xevo G2-S QTof when doing LC-MS runs - WKB13748

SYMPTOMS

• LockSpray probe does not have a blockage or a leak, yet spray is unstable

ENVIRONMENT

• Xevo G2-S Q-Tof

CAUSE

The high heat from the sample sprayer desolvation heater and the high-organic solvent cause the lockspray solvent to boil off, resulting in an unstable beam.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Go to a higher percentage of aqueous in the lockspray solution (approximately 80% H₂O) and/or go to a higher flow rate.
