How to switch off/on the Vion IMS QTof - WKB125687

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Shut down power to a Vion IMS QTof and switch it back on, safely and correctly.

ENVIRONMENT

• Vion IMS QTof
• Xevo G2-XS
• UNIFI

PROCEDURE

1. Switch the instrument into Standby mode and vent through the software. Find the vent button at instrument console > Maintain > Vacuum.
2. On the same page as the “vent” button, wait for the “Turbo speeds” of both “source” and “TOF” to reach 0% or close to it. Venting is fast, but to make sure you can wait 5 -10 minutes.
3. Turn off the instrument “electronics” only, using the switch on the rear of the instrument. You need to switch the electronics only, NOT both switches (the other one is the pump override; leave it as it is).
4. Exit UNIFI and switch off the PC.

To power-on the Vion:

1. Switch the PC back on.

2. Switch on the electronics and wait for 5-10 minutes (make sure you hear the fluidics start). 

3. Log in to UNIFI, go to the same page from which you vented the system, and select “Pump” (where it initially said "Vent", it now says "pump").

4. Ensure that the turbo speeds reach 100%.

5. Wait for the Tof vacuum to attain e-7.
