SYMPTOMS
- Loose gas cone
- Loose cone gas position block
- Unable to pump down the system after cleaning the cone
- System pumps down with the isolation valve closed
- Lower cone bracket is not flush with the ion block
ENVIRONMENT

CAUSE
- Missing or incorrectly stacked Belleville spring washers
- Screw holding Belleville springs/cone gas position block requires tightening.
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Pay attention to the orientation of the curved washers. To determine their arrangement, imagine that
the washers are parentheses. Arrange them in this manner: ( ) ( ). Four per side for a total of eight. - Install the Belleville spring washers (700003080).
- Tighten the screw that holds the cone gas position block and ensure that the sample cone can be correctly installed.
- Confirm that the system can hold vacuum with the source isolation valve open.
