In TargetLynx and QuanLynx, can you sum the peak areas of multiple, resolved chromatographic peaks detected in the same channel? - WKB112815

  • MassLynx
  • TargetLynx
  • QuanLynx

ANSWER

Currently, TargetLynx software, which replaced QuanLynx, does not support it. When baselines are resolved, two peaks cannot be summed.

The Totals feature in TargetLynx is very different that the one in Empower.

Totals in TargetLynx sum the measured concentration of known (and/or unknown) compounds in the method. The concentration of each compound is determined by the peak area or height of the individual peak in the chromatogram associated with that compound.

What is currently missing in TargetLynx is the ability to sum the areas of multiple peaks found in the same MRM trace and to use this summed peak area as a Response to then determine the combined concentration of a group of compounds (generally isomers) present in a given sample. This is a feature that does exist in Empower.

A temporary fix is to chromatically bring peaks together by altering LC Method and clearing the selection of Apex Track (see Chromatogram > Peak Detect > Modify) to obtain the best integration. Another option is to import the Summary Table results to Excel for further processing.
