Unable to pump down Mass Spectrometer- WKB107012

SYMPTOMS

• MS vented
• Turbo Controller Fault error message
• Low vacuum error message
• The MS won't pump down even after reboot
• No response from the roughing pump when attempting to pump down the MS 
• Roughing pump oil level and viscosity are okay
• 24V from backing control cable measured and is good

ENVIRONMENT

• Xevo TQD
• SQD2
• Xevo TQ MS
• 3100 Mass Detector
• Xevo G2-XS

CAUSE

• Faulty roughing pump 

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace the roughing pump

• SQD2 part number 410003281 Edwards XDS46i scroll pump
• Xevo TQ MS part number 700004717 Varian 602 Rotary pump
• 3100 - Source refurbished roughing pump from ETSC

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Full system reboot required including the PC was attempted before changing the roughing pump. 

• Turn all modules off including the MS, stop MassLynx processes, reboot PC and turn modules on 1 at a time. Allow the MS to finish its boot sequence before open MassLynx to try pumping instrument down again.
