Error "Plunger Homing Over Pressure" for Alliance 2695 Separations Module - WKB98371

Article number: 98371

SYMPTOMS

  • "Plunger Homing Over Pressure" error on initialization
  • Open vent valve and resume initialization or remove tubing from right-hand side of the inline filter and resume initialization

ENVIRONMENT

  • 2695 Separations Module
  • e2695 Separations Module
  • 2795 Separations Module

CAUSE

Too much back pressure in the system

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Keep the tubing disconnected from the right-hand side of the inline filter.
  2. Dry prime all lines with 100% methanol (including Seal Wash).
  3. Wet prime all lines with 100% methanol (10.0 mL/min for 5.0 minutes at 25%, all lines).
  4. Connect the tubing back to the inline filter so the system is ready for use.
  5. Attach an Alliance column and ensure proper flow and delta on each line.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If the back pressure is not released from the inline filter or the vent valve, remove the tubing from both check valves and try again.

The following action can quickly determine how much the inline filter and/or the connection between the inline filter and the injector is causing the restriction.

  1. Use any of the lines with 100% methanol.
  2. Prime for 5 minutes at 7.5 mL/min.
  3. The system back pressure after 5 minutes of priming should typically be 150 psi +/- 30 psi.
  4. If the pressure is more than twice this value, replace the inline filter insert Part Number WAT088084 or Filter Assembly Part Number WAT035190
  5. If the pressure is still high, replace the tubing (WAT270975 - SS Tubing, Filter to V1).
