What is the life expectancy of a HPLC/UPLC system component? - WKB91377

Article number: 91377

ENVIRONMENT

  • Alliance HPLC
  • ACQUITY UPLC

ANSWER

We do not officially project how long these instruments will last. Reliability tests electronic devices (power supplies, PC boards, front panels, and the like) to simulate five years of use. This is also true for most of our electromechanical assemblies (e.g., actuators, syringe drives, injector assemblies). If something fails before five years, it is usually a PM part that we expect to fail after a year's use.

After five years, you may see a non-PM part fail, but with the proper maintenance and care, these instruments can last 15 to 20 years. And as long as we continue to support these products, they can last forever if major components are replaced when they fail.
