2489 UV/Vis Detector: Does the sampling rate and filter time constant changes have effects on the peak area? What parameters can be changed to improve the detection sensitivity? - WKB87513

Article number: 87513

ENVIRONMENT

  • 2489 UV/Vis Detector
  • Empower

ANSWER

When using the 2489 detector controlled by Empower, there are no variable parameters to improve detection sensitivity.

■ Sampling rate (points/second)
The data acquisition speed. If you set a number that is too large for your data, it may look like a noisy chromatogram.
■Filter time constant (seconds)
The noise removal interval and noise removal time constant. Increasing the value will reduce the noise, but setting it too large will make the peak shorter and wider.

Changing these values changes the shape of the peak, which in turn changes the peak area.
However, it is not a parameter that greatly changes the sensitivity.
