ANSWER

Analytical Scale ACQUITY UPLC

Waters has traditionally tested ACQUITY platforms on Analyst software. The Waters ICS is installed from the Waters driver pack media, which automatically installs a Sciex product called AAO, or Analyst Access Object. This service runs in the background and allows the ACQUITY ICS to communicate with Analyst software.

Currently, Sciex is shipping Analyst 1.7.X for tandem quadrupole instruments and Analyst 1.8.XTF for time of flight instruments. These versions will likely be installed on Windows 10, though Windows 7 support is available. Waters currently supports the following versions.

  • Waters DP2019R1 was tested with and provides support for Analyst 1.7.0 and 1.7.1 on Windows 7 and 10
  • Waters DP2020R1 was tested with and provides support for Analyst 1.7.2
  • Waters DP2022R1 was tested with and provides support for Analyst 1.7.2, 1.7.3 and 1.8.1 TF
  • For previous releases of Analyst software, consult the appropriate Waters driver pack release notes for support details on www.waters.com

Multi Dimensional(2D) ACQUITY is now supported under Analyst control using only DP2022R1. The identification of pumps will take place in ACQUITY Console and then appropriate gradients for each pump can be set as normal in the instrument method. *For BSM/QSM configurations only. Two like pumps (BSM/BSM) not supported with  Analyst 1.7.2

Nano/Micro Scale ACQUITY UPLC

Windows 7 - M-Class Driver Pack 1.55 for Third Party Support

Waters does currently test our M-Class driver pack for use with Sciex Analyst software. Per the ACQUITY UPLC MClass Driver Pack Version 1.55 for Thermo Scientific Xcalibur and Sciex Analyst Control Release Notes, full nanoACQUITY and M-Class support are offered to the following software versions.

  • Analyst 1.6.2 on Windows 7 32 bit
  • Analyst 1.6.2 on Windows 7 64 bit

Please follow the release notes for installation instructions.

Windows 10 - Driver Pack 2022 Release 1

DP2022R1 provides support for M-Class on Analyst in Windows10 with the following CDS versions.

  • Analyst 1.7.2
  • Analyst 1.7.3
  • Analyst 1.8.1 TF

Configuring in Analyst and Making Contact Closure Connections

For instructions on configuring the ACQUITY within Analyst, as well as making methods and running samples, please refer to the Setting Up the ACQUITY UPLC System for Analyst Control document. The I/O cable from the Sciex MS must be connected to the ACQUITY to facilitate inject start and stop flow signals appropriately. Configure the connections as detailed below.

  • Inject start - connect the white/black and green/black wires to the inject start ports on the SM. Output signal is contact closure so polarity is not a concern.
  • Stop flow - connect the blue/black and blue wires to the stop flow ports on the pump. Output signal is contact closure so polarity is not a concern.
  • Connect the orange/black and red/black wires to each other and secure with wire connector cap or electrical tape.
