ACQUITY UPLC PDA is clogged - WKB72910
Article number: 72910
SYMPTOMS
- ACQUITY BSM or QSM pump gives a "pump over pressure" error
- Mobile phase includes buffers
- High back pressure at low flow rate with a union
- PDA fails to initialize or calibrate generating RED LED lights
- Tubings comes loose post column
ENVIRONMENT
- ACQUITY UPLC
- ACQUITY UPLC PDA Detector
- ACQUITY UPLC Tunable UV Detector
- 2487/2489 UV/Vis Detector
- 2475 Multi-Wavelength Fluorescence Detector
- ACQUITY UPLC BSM
- ACQUITY UPLC QSM
- Alliance HPLC System
- 2695 Separations Module
CAUSE
The detector flow cell has become partially or completely blocked/clogged.
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Replace the column with a union.
- Flush the flow cell with appropriate solvent typically water (can be heated to 50ºC) at a low flow rate.
- Reverse flow by connecting the inlet to the outlet of the flow cell to dislodge the clog.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If the salt buildup persist, replace the flow cell
