SYMPTOMS

  • Unable to control 2695 Alliance HPLC system in Run Samples, including setting the flow rate
  • Communication issue occurred after power surge
  • The two 2695 Alliance HPLC systems with 2996 and 2424 all say OK? NO in node properties
  • IEEE busLAC/E status is booted OK
  • 2424 cannot ping successfully; request timed out
  • Instrument LAN card provides a reply when pinged

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower
  • Alliance Separations Module 2695
  • 2996 PDA detector
  • 2424 ELS detector

CAUSE

Communication issue

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Remove the 2424 IP address from DHCP.
  2. Turn instruments and PC off.
  3. Turn on IEEE connected devices (2695, 2996).
  4. Turn on PC and log in to Windows.
  5. Turn on Ethernet connected device (2424).
  6. Log in to Empower.
  7. Confirm that instruments say OK? YES in node properties.
  8. Launch Run Samples.
