717 Autosampler error "Seal width too narrow" when running the adjust seals calibration - WKB6918

SYMPTOMS

• 717 Adjust Seals fails. CAL error: "Seal width Too narrow" 
• Flow is at 1.1 mL/min in degassed methanol through a column; pressure stable at 500 psi
• Test cycles through the sequence as expected, moving the needle through the seals, monitoring changes in pressure
• Error triggered several minutes into the calibration sequence
• Compression test fails due to lack of seal calibration

Other observations:

• Auto zero transducer, pressure stable
• New seal pack, new injector assembly, new sample loop
• Injector top/bottom sensor adjusted to 5/16-inch spacing
• Autosampler purged thoroughly; no air bubbles observed

ENVIRONMENT

• 717+ Autosampler

CAUSE

High-pressure motor valve 1 is leaking. A leak within the fluidics pack prevents the adjust seals calibration from completing.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Rebuild the high-pressure motor valve 1.
   • Part number WAT045424 for the "VLV REBUILD KIT"
