SYMPTOMS

• seal residual force limit exceeded (z-up) error message

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY APC Sample Manager - FTN
• ACQUITY Arc Sample Manager FTN-R
• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle (SM-FTN)
• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle PLUS (SM-FTN PLUS)

CAUSE

Friction inside the Inject Port/Wash Station causing the internal components to not move freely as designed. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Prime the purge solvent.
2. Perform the characterizations.
3. Run a test injection.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If the above solution doesn't work, you can also thoroughly clean or replace the Inject Port/Wash Station components including cup and spring .

In some cases its been observed that cup or spring are rusted because of excess moisture inside sample compartment .

In some cases its been observed that the components are salted together
