Does the injection valve on an ACQUITY H-Class SM-FTN move every 30 minutes when it is in idle state? - WKB67023
ENVIRONMENT
- ACQUITY H-Class
- SM-FTN
- SM-FTN-R
ANSWER
Yes
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The SM-FTN and Bio-FTN injector will move to exercise the injector.
After 30 minutes of idle time, the injection valve moves to the load position and the needle moves up from the seal position to the center of the sample compartment chamber. This reduces pressure on the high-pressure injection port seal. Idle time is when the FTN is on and not running samples. This is applicable to equilibration and monitoring baseline.
The action of moving the valve will cause a pressure fluctuation. Seeing the pressure change every 30 minutes is normal during idle times.
The Sample Manager 1.51 firmware changes the behavior so that the injection valve moves only once at the first 30 minute time point during any idling state. SM-FTN version 1.51 firmware will continue to move the needle out of the high-pressure seal and to the middle of the chamber when 30 minutes idle time is reached. The injection valve will cycle only one time from the inject to the load position. Since this action only occurs one time, the user will no longer see the repeated pressure change every 30 minutes when the valve cycles.
