ACQUITY UPLC SM-FTN PLUS console displays ''needle seal force sensor h/w fault 0.0'' - WKB58797

SYMPTOMS

• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle red light flashes
  • Unable to perform injection
  • Error displays in console
• After component re-initialization, SM-FTN shows "Seal not calibrated" error message
  • During needle seal characterization, "Seal force sensor h/w fault (0.0)" appears

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle PLUS (SM-FTN PLUS)
• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager

CAUSE

Needle is not seated correctly, due to loose screw on needle fixation plate.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Select Replace > Needle in console, for better access to needle.
2. Guide the needle correctly.
3. Tighten the needle fixation plate.
4. Characterize needle seal.
5. Verify that dynamic leak test passes.
6. Perform an injection to verify the fix.
