SYMPTOMS

• When resetting through the Empower Run Samples control panel, the 2998 PDA reports that the shutter is closed and will not open

ENVIRONMENT

• 2998 PDA

• Empower 3

CAUSE

The computer and the instruments are not communicating properly.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Power-off the instruments.
2. Shut down the computer.
3. Cycle power on the Ethernet switch.
4. Turn on the computer and allow it to reach the normal desktop display.
5. Turn on the instruments.
