Vial leak error on Agilent 7697 Headspace using Empower - WKB3635

SYMPTOMS

CAUSE

Headspace driver 3.0 does not allow for setting an acceptable leak rate for the vial. It uses the the lowest setting as default.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. If possible, upgrade to Agilent Instrument Control Framework (ICF) Support Version 3.0.
2. If you cannot upgrade to ICF Version 3.0, then follow this workaround:
   • Try using "fill with constant volume" in the Advance tab for the 7697, within the Vial tab.
   • Another possibility is to use the Agilent brand vials and caps, because they offer better performance and may stay within an acceptable leak rate. Agilent screw-cap vials may also help. The white PTFE septas are best; see the Agilent vials catalog.
