How to dry prime the seal wash pump - WKB274735

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Dry prime the seal wash pump.

ENVIRONMENT

• All ACQUITY UPLC solvent managers

PROCEDURE

1. Fill the seal wash solvent bottle with the appropriate solvent.
2. Disconnect the supply line from the seal wash pump. Note: The position of the supply line varies with the solvent manager (see attached photos BSM, QSM, ARC). 
3. Put several paper towels or Kimwipes under the seal wash pump to catch solvent that will leak flow flow down from the reservoir. 
4. Connect a syringe to the end of the supply line using tubing or a union (see photo for example).
5. Draw solvent down into the syringe.
6. Disconnect the syringe from the supply line and quickly reconnect it to the seal wash pump. Solvent will flow as it is gravity fed (see step 3).
7. From the ACQUITY Console, select the solvent manager in the system list on the left. From the Control menu, select Prime Seal Wash. Note: You must clear the selection of Prime Seal Wash to stop the priming.
