SYMPTOMS

• Repeated failure of turbo molecular pump on an ACQUITY QDa (requiring replacement pumps). 

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY QDa
• Turbo molecular pump
• Detector control card (DCC)

CAUSE

A faulty detector control card (DCC) (700011090) at the "Turbo Pump Controller" at junction 6 (J6), which supplies the 24V power supply to the turbo molecular pump. This led to over power supply, causing premature failure of the turbo pump controller. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace the DCC board (700011090).
