SYMPTOMS

  • Solvent leaking under Alliance through two drip trays
  • System always uses sample cooling; ambient environment warm and humid during summer

CAUSE

Ice buildup on sample chiller 

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Follow instructions and use the defrost function multiple times from the diagnostics menu.
  2. Alternatively, manually set sample temperature to 40 °C. Open door and place paper towels in the compartment and under the Alliance for a few hours or overnight. Defrost and bake-dry the engine.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If error the error "Sample temperature hardware fault (5)" occurs but the fans are functioning after defrosting, it is possible that the liquid has come into contact with and damaged the fan connectors. Contact Waters to have a local service representative replace the sample heater/cooler engine.
