SYMPTOMS

• Error "Needle/Seal move limit exceeded (5.0)"

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle  (SM-FTN)
• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle PLUS (SM-FTN PLUS)
• ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
• ACQUITY UPLC H-Class PLUS
• ACQUITY UPLC H-Class PLUS Bio
• ACQUITY UPLC I-Class

CAUSE

Bent, broken or dislodged needle

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Inspect the needle and if dislodged, re-install the needle correctly. If the needle is installed properly and the error persists continue with step 2.
2. Replace the needle. 
3. Calibrate R axis and needle Z axis.
4. Characterize the needle seal (seal constant value should be between 8 and 11 N/mm).
5. Perform the Needle Seal Readiness test.
