How to replace the FTN-R sample loop on an Arc HPLC Sample Manager - WKB257545

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Replace the FTN-R sample loop because of leaking from the sample loop connection to the injector pod or the need to change from the standard 50-µL sample loop to a different size.

ENVIRONMENT

• Arc HPLC Sample Manager - FTN-R

PROCEDURE

1. Power-off the Sample Manager FTN-R.
2. Using two 1/4-inch wrenches, separate the existing sample loop from the needle.
3. Using one 1/4-inch wrench, disconnect the existing sample loop from the injector pod (port 4).
4. With the new sample loop, seat the ferrule on the male end of the sample loop and attach to port 4 of the injector pod.
5. The female end of the sample loop reconnects with the needle you disconnected in step 2. (Use 1/4-inch wrenches again.)
6. Power-on the sample manager after the new sample loop is fully connected into the pathway.
7. If necessary, reset the Sample Manager in the ACQUITY Console to regain communications.
8. In the ACQUITY Console, on the top bar, in the Configure drop-down menu, select volumes and verify that you now have the correct sample loop size, or change to the correct size.
9. Perform a priming of the sample loop from the Control drop-down menu, purge the syringe with solvent for at least five cycles, and then wash the needle with solvent for at least 15 seconds.
10. Verify the functionality of the system with an injection.
