"Setup Failed" message in Empower message center - WKB24067

SYMPTOMS

• "Setup Failed" entry in Empower 3 message center
• Cannot monitor baseline
• On the Node properties Instruments tab, all instruments say OK? - YES, except for the module that has setup failed error
• Run Samples and Empower 3 message center show instrument failure

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3
• 2414 Refractive Index Detector running via IEEE cable in 410 Emulation mode
• All Waters IEEE devices

CAUSE

Bad IEEE cable

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Replace or clean and reseat the IEEE cable. 
2. Do a full reboot of the system and the PC, in the proper order.
