High area RSD on ACQUITY UPLC - WKB240182

SYMPTOMS

• Poor peak area %RSD for ACQUITY UPLC (1.5%–2.0% from three replicate injections)
• Sample Manager passes all diagnostic tests, including the sample syringe leak test
• Needle and loop volume characterization passes with the same measured volumes each time

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC

CAUSE

Leak in the BSM; fails dynamic leak test for one or both pumps.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Rebuild the leaking pump head. Replace the seals and check valve. Replace the pump head and seal wash housing if necessary.
