How to use the Column Manager - Active (CM-A) left-hand valve as a diverter valve - WKB2376
Article number: 2376
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Use the left-hand valve of the Column Manager - Active (CM-A) as a diverter valve so that a portion of the sample does not flow into the QDa source.
ENVIRONMENT
- ACQUITY Column Manager - Active (CM-A)
- MassLynx 4.1
- Empower 3
- QDa
PROCEDURE
- Plumb the outlet of the column to the center port of the left-hand valve on the CM-A.
- Plumb port 1 on the left-hand valve to the detector.
- Plumb port 2 on the left-hand valve to waste.
- In the MassLynx inlet method, go to Column Manager parameters and select the Advance option at the top.
- In Empower Instrument Method, go to Column Manager parameters and select the Advance option at the top.
- Set the initial valve positions on the General tab.
- Set the Events Table on the Events tab to select the flow toward the detector (position 1) or waste (position 2) at the appropriate times for the chromatographic separation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When plumbing the left-hand valve to the detector and waste, any two ports can be used. The method parameters must reflect these ports.
This is a single-column configuration. The plumbing does not allow for multiple columns to be installed or for automatic switching between columns.
