Is the behavior of the column switching valve different in Arc HPLC system than with 2695 module? - WKB224781
Article number: 224781
ENVIRONMENT
- 2695 Separations Module
- Arc HPLC System
ANSWER
In the Alliance 2695, the column switching valve (700000425 - 2 position, 10 port valve) switches position without a change in flow rate.
In Arc HPLC, the system has a higher pressure limit. The column switching valve switches position with a flow ramp to zero and returns to the set flow rate. During a valve position change, the solvent manager flow stops momentarily while the pressure decays. This prevents exposing the column to a pressure that could damage it. If the pressure does not reach the recommended pressure before the instrument times out, the valve position change proceeds and flow resumes.
