DMSO is a strong solvent that is able to solubilize a lot of different analytes. Typically, using DMSO in small amounts is okay. However, if used in larger amounts, it can cause non-metallic tubings, especially PEEK, to swell.

Can I use DMSO as a diluent?

If the needle is PEEK, keep the diluent to less than 10%.

Can I use DMSO in solvent?
Without the THF/hexane kit, limit DMSO to less than 10%. It is acceptable to use DMSO as an additive in low amounts.

With THF/hexane kit, DMSO can be used. Although more frequent PMs may be required.

Will the flow cell be affected if DMSO is used?
It depends on how much is being used.
Most flow cells contain PEEK tubing, so it is always best to limit DMSO to less than 10%.

Can I use DMSO as an additive in seal wash?
No. DMSO as an additive in seal wash should be avoided. 
When normal-phase solvents are used, IPA or MeOH is recommended for the seal wash solvent.
