No flow during prime with Alliance 2695 Separations Module - WKB21679

Article number: 21679

SYMPTOMS

  • No flow from pump when priming
  • Replacement of check valve doesn't fix the issue

ENVIRONMENT

  • Alliance HPLC System
  • 2695 Separations Module
  • 2695D Dissolution Separations Module
  • 2795 Separations Module

CAUSE

Running out of mobile phase; the inlet tubes are completely dry. Dry prime or wet prime, no solvent comes out from the pump.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Detach the inlet tubes (A,B,C,D) from the degasser chambers.
  2. With a syringe, pull from the end of the inlet tubes until solvent reaches the syringe.
  3. Attach the inlet tubes and perform a dry prime.
  4. Perform a leak test.
  5. Confirm that the system is running properly.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Air lock in the check valve has also been seen to cause the above issue. Tap the check valve housing gently with a spanner to release the air lock, alternatively undo the check valve housing fitting and ensure there is solvent coming through.
