Error: x axis home h/w fault - Sample Manager - WKB2139

SYMPTOMS

  • Console shows error X axis H/W fault
  • Grinding noise when sample manager tries to home after a reset
  • Restart clears the error, but faults again during injection

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager

CAUSE

Unit has not been characterized in a long time.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Remove the two plates.
  2. Power-off the Sample Manager.
  3. Move the needle carriage gently back and forth couple times, paying attention to the flex cable to avoid damaging it.
  4. Power-on the Sample Manager.
  5. Put the plates back in place.
  6. Prime wash solvents.
  7. Characterize needle seal.
  8. Characterize needle and sample loop volumes.
