Fluctuating pressure on ACQUITY - WKB206359

SYMPTOMS

• Little or no flow when running flow 
• Other lines work fine
• Pressure fluctuates
• Delta psi varies

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Quaternary Solvent Manager (QSM)
• ACQUITY UPLC I-Class Binary Solvent Manager

CAUSE

The solvent line lost prime or contain air bubbles or contaminated (due to bacterial growth).

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Prime the line where the symptoms are observed. (see additional information below).
2. Run dynamic leak test with methanol to confirm it is passing.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Lines dedicated to water or buffer often susceptible to bacterial growth that can often cause the check valves to malfunction. Flushing the line with organic solvent periodically can help prevent the issue.
