After changing to a different type of column, there is a leak at the column inlet - WKB19848

SYMPTOMS

• Leak is noted at the column inlet
• New type of column is now being used
• A plastic, finger-tight fitting is used at the column inlet

ENVIRONMENT

• 1500 series pump/HPLC system
• Alliance HPLC System

CAUSE

Although commonly used, the plastic fittings wear over time when they are misused or over-tightened into the stainless steel column threads.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace the plastic finger-tight fitting (700004472).

If issue persists, replace plastic fittings with stainless steel two-piece fittings.
